Mobile marketing reached new heights this week, after a tweet was sent from Mount Everest as part of a campaign from Samsung to promote the Galaxy S II smartphone.
British climber Kenton Cool posted the message on Twitter on May 6th as he climbed the world's highest peak for the ninth time.
It read: "Everest summit no 9! 1st tweet from the top of the world thanks to a weak 3G signal & the awesome Samsung Galaxy S2 handset!"
Cool was able to post the message thanks to a 3G station that was installed in 2010 at the base of Mount Everest and a video of the event was uploaded by Samsung on YouTube.
The company also recently enlisted David Beckham as ambassador for its Olympic Games sponsorship, with a multi channel marketing campaign set to be launched by the company.
Vice-president Gyehyun Kwon said: "We're delighted that David will be supporting our goal to extend the Olympic Games spectator experience to fans throughout the world using our leading smart mobile technology."
